Fortnite’s Rocket Racing is a fun mix of Rocket League and Mario Kart

Ready for the latest addition to the world of Fortnite game modes? Following the recent launch of Lego Fortnite, you can now dive into Rocket Racing – and the best part is, it’s completely free to play.

Rocket Racing, developed by Psyonix, the studio behind Rocket League, offers an exciting arcade racing experience reminiscent of Mario Kart and Burnout, with elements of Rocket League’s mechanics.

Players can zoom around tracks, utilize slipstream to overtake opponents, aim for boost pads, and pull off adrenaline-pumping drifts to build up their boost. Additionally, the game allows for limited jumping, enabling vehicles to reach higher parts of the track, discover secret shortcuts, and navigate obstacles.

The game also features technical controls such as a tighter drift option for cornering and the ability to flip your car to the side or above the road, adding to the excitement of the racing experience.

With the capacity for up to 12 players on the track simultaneously, Rocket Racing promises fast-paced and immersive gameplay across its 26 tracks, which are divided into three difficulties. Players can look forward to climbing ranks, completing challenges, and earning XP to contribute to Fortnite’s overall battle pass.

Another highlight of Rocket Racing is the customization options available for vehicles, which can be unlocked and shared across Rocket League, with the opportunity to purchase additional items from Fortnite’s Item Shop. At present, these customization options seem to be the only form of monetization for the mode.

Season Zero is currently hosting Rocket Racing, with the first full season set to launch early next year. Future updates in 2024 will introduce new modes, including Time Trials, and more cosmetic options for cars to unlock. In addition, players can look forward to the ability to create their own tracks using an editor later in the year.

The lineup of new Fortnite game mode launches is set to conclude with the arrival of Fortnite Festival, created by Rock Band developer Harmonix, which will also be available to play for free.
