What is the Jetpack in Geometry Dash?

The Jetpack in Geometry Dash

The recent update to Geometry Dash brought some significant changes with the introduction of two new vehicles: the Swing and the Jetpack. While the Swing is featured in the new level, Dash, the Jetpack has yet to be officially utilized, even in the other new levels. So, what exactly is this new vehicle?

The Jetpack is prominently displayed in the character creation menu, positioned at the end of the line of vehicles. Currently, there are only five Jetpacks available. After playing Dash and completing what’s available of The Tower, it became evident that the Jetpack had not been utilized at all.

The Jetpack was designed with the new platforming mode in mind and functions similarly to the Ship. Rather than reusing the ship sprites, a new vehicle was created to ensure a better division of functionality. To unlock two of the Jetpack designs, players need to collect a certain number of Moons, which are obtained after beating platformer levels. Jetpack 2 is earned by completing stage four of The Tower. It’s important to note that user-created levels have also incorporated the Jetpack in normal levels, indicating that it is not exclusively tied to platformer levels.

How to use the Jetpack in Geometry Dash

Using the Jetpack in Geometry Dash is straightforward. In a typical level, pressing and holding the Jetpack causes it to immediately ascend, and releasing the button allows it to descend. Slightly larger than the Cube, while still maintaining a cubic shape, the Jetpack is a more responsive alternative to the ship. Unlike the ship, the Jetpack does not require the same consideration for energy and ascension and descension.

In platforming levels, players have the ability to maneuver their character on two axes, adjusting their ascension and descent using the boost button, while the left and right buttons function similarly to normal levels. This level of flexibility adds a new dimension to gameplay, providing exciting new opportunities for players.

Now that you understand the mechanics of the Jetpack, why not dive into everything there is to know about the other new vehicle, the Swing?
