Review of Lift
The action-comedy movie, Lift, boasts an impressive cast and director, but unfortunately, fails to live up to its potential.
Despite the experienced cast and director, Lift struggles to make the most of its assets, resulting in a mediocre film. The characters fail to establish depth and substance, leaving the audience disconnected from the story.
Cyrus’ band of thieves, particularly, lack individual identities and come off as banal caricatures of their job descriptions. Only Mbatha-Raw manages to bring a subtle display of emotions to her character, Abby Gladwell, providing an occasional highlight to the overall blandness of the movie.
Even with the potential for thrilling action scenes, Lift falls short and feels half-hearted. The heists are lackluster, and the attempts at physical comedy are ineffective, all of which is surprising given the director’s previous work.
