Glass plays a crucial role in the game Raft, as it is necessary to craft the Advanced Purifier, a structure that allows you to obtain fresh water more quickly without using extra fuel.
If you’ve missed the in-game instructions for obtaining Glass, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process of making Glass in Raft.
How to Make Glass in Raft
Glass is the result of smelting Sand in either of the two types of Smelters.
To obtain Sand, you’ll need to find an island and dive into the ocean to locate Sand deposits. Each unit of Sand will yield 1 unit of Glass when smelted, so be sure to collect as much as you need.
To smelt sand using the regular Smelter, approach it and press “E” to place Planks in the bottom part. Up to 4 Planks can be used as fuel, with each lasting 50 seconds.
Next, add Sand to your hot bar, select it, and press “E” again to place it in the Smelter.
The Sand placed in the Smelter will turn into Glass after 60 seconds, regardless of the Smelter type.
To speed up the glass-making process, you can use the Electrical Smelter, which has 3 smelting slots and uses Batteries instead of Planks as fuel.
Once the Sand is done smelting, you’ll notice a change in the item’s appearance in the Smelter. It will look darker and transparent.
To retrieve the Glass from the Smelter, approach it and press “E” again.
In addition to smelting Sand, you can also obtain Glass directly from most types of loot boxes in Raft.
Each type of loot box provides 3-5 items when looted, and the probability of obtaining Glass from each box is:
- Raft Loot Box: 1.9%
- Radio Tower Loot Box: 7.2%
- Mountain Loot Box: 1.6%
- Metal Loot Box: 13.5%
- Randomized Materials Loot Box: 1%
- Tangaroa Suitcase: 13%
- Tangaroa Safe: 15.8%
And that’s how you make Glass in Raft!
