Killzone Easter Egg in The Last of Us 2 Remastered Sparks Calls for a New Game
It seems that Killzone fans are eager for a new game to come to life after discovering an intriguing Easter Egg within The Last of Us 2 Remastered. In this remaster, players can access new character skins in the No Return mode, which also work in the campaign. One of these skins pays homage to Guerrilla Games’ beloved Killzone franchise.
New Killzone Game Unlikely
One of the skins in question is a Killzone t-shirt that Ellie can wear in TLOU2 Remastered, and you can get a glimpse of it below, thanks to Twitter user Okami13:
While Naughty Dog has included references to several Sony franchises in TLOU2 Remastered, it’s the Killzone t-shirt that has sparked a lot of discussion. As noted by IGN, fans were disappointed with just a t-shirt.
A new Killzone game may not be entirely out of the picture, but at the moment, it seems highly unlikely. Developer Guerrilla Games shifted its focus to the Horizon franchise, while Sony is emphasizing blockbuster releases. Although Killzone has a dedicated fan base, the series lacks the widespread appeal that Microsoft’s Halo franchise has achieved.
In 2021, Sony shut down the Killzone franchise’s official website, leaving Guerrilla to showcase the games on its own website.
