Helldivers 2 can be a really fun third-person shooter game to play. However, like it or hate it the game’s mechanics are designed in a way that tends to promote playing with others. So most players will suggest you add and play with your friends or join a public game. But there is another option, and that is to play Helldivers 2 solo. Yes, you can play the game alone and don’t have to worry about not finding strangers to play with. Here is how you can set up your game:
How to Solo Play Helldivers 2
You need to change your Matchmaking Privacy settings to Friends only and then start the mission. This is what you do:
- Open the game’s menu and go to the Options tab.
- You can find the Matchmaking Privacy setting here.
- Set it to friends only.
- Now, you are all set.
The only thing left now to do is start the mission. This way neither will you be joining randoms, nor be hosting a game so others cannot accidentally join you. The game won’t add bots and you will be fighting the hordes of bugs alone.
Do remember that this game is designed for co-op play and it doesn’t necessarily have to be with friends. So you can still play without them by joining a random lobby and turning off voice chat.
Is Helldivers 2 Worth for Playing Alone?
Yes, for the most part, if you want to truly experience the game alone then the game can still be worth it. Helldivers 2 does seem to scale its difficulty based on the number of squad members. The only major area where you seem to feel the lack of multiplayer disadvantage is when you are constantly being attacked from all sides and have no one to cover you. Aside from that there are also some weapons that require two players to use it with one handling the weapon while the others reload it.
