Konami producer Motoi Okamoto has announced that the development of Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake is in its final stage.
Silent Hill 2 remake in the final stretch
During an interview with Famitsu, Okamoto, the leader of the Silent Hill revival, provided an update on the progress of the Silent Hill 2 remake. He stated that they are currently in the final stage of development and while he couldn’t reveal much at this point, he did mention the following.
”We are at the final stage of development. Unfortunately, there is little I can tell you at this point. As a game, you can imagine Silent Hill 2 is the same as everyone imagines, and is easy to play in modern times, and can be enjoyed with beautiful visuals that look like a direct form of memory correction”.
Okamoto’s description of the gameplay for the Silent Hill 2 remake aligns with previous statements from Bloober Team, indicating that they are taking a cautious approach with the game.
As aforementioned, we take a very safe approach to any changes. We remain faithful to the original title. Nonetheless, we are applying adjustments to certain areas where things need modernizing due to the passage of time.
Most recently, Silent Hill made a comeback with the release of a combat trailer for the Silent Hill 2 remake and a new free game titled Silent Hill: The Short Message, which was launched on PS5.
The Silent Hill 2 combat trailer marked the first public reveal of the remake since its initial announcement trailer in 2022. With over four years of development, it seems like the game should be nearing completion at this point. A release in 2024 still appears to be quite likely.
