Mario vs. Donkey Kong Launch Deals

Discounts on Mario vs. Donkey Kong

Today, Mario vs. Donkey Kong was launched on February 16. If you missed the opportunity to pre-order a copy and are willing to wait a week before you can start playing, Geek Alliance is offering deals for both the North American and region-free import editions. The NA version is priced at a 10% discount (saving you five bucks), while the international edition is available for $42 (down from the original $50). The international edition is in English and is compatible with the Nintendo Switch in North America, with the only difference being the absence of an ESRB ratings board logo.

As of now, there are approximately 170 copies of the North American edition in stock and 800 international copies. With these numbers, it is highly likely that both editions will sell out in the upcoming days. Earlier this week, Geek Alliance only had around 300 copies of the NA edition in stock.

Free USPS ground shipping is included with your order, and the delivery window is three to five days. Shipping times may vary depending on your location, and for international buyers, it could take a few weeks for your order to arrive. If you’re eager to start playing this weekend, consider opting for Prime shipping at Amazon, which could get your copy delivered as early as Saturday. Alternatively, you can also order online and pick up your copy at a local Best Buy, Walmart, or Target store.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong is a remake of the original game that was released on the Game Boy Advance. It introduces new features such as cooperative play and updated graphics. The game blends platforming and puzzle-solving, offering a more methodical gameplay experience compared to other side-scrolling Mario games. Fans of the classic Donkey Kong arcade game or the Game Boy edition of Donkey Kong are likely to enjoy Mario vs. Donkey Kong.

The game received a 7/10 rating in our Mario vs. Donkey Kong review. “Mario vs. Donkey Kong feels very retro in certain respects,” critic Steve Watts wrote. “It’s designed to be played in short bursts, which can feel anachronistic on a modern handheld hybrid that’s perfectly suited for long play sessions. But it’s also a throwback in the best ways, recapturing the clever aha moments of puzzle-platforming that made its predecessors so memorable, all while packing distinct visual improvements and quality-of-life tweaks that bring out its charm like never before.”

If you’re not particular about having a North American copy for your collection, consider saving some money by opting for the imported version, which provides English language support and works seamlessly on the Switch. The only potential issue could arise if DLC is announced for Mario vs. Donkey Kong, as you would need to purchase the DLC from the eShop associated with the base version of Switch games. However, it’s highly unlikely that DLC will be released for a remake like Mario vs. Donkey Kong.
