Arrowhead Game Studios’ CEO has advised gamers not to purchase Helldivers 2 until the servers are fixed due to ongoing issues with login and matchmaking.
Despite the game’s growing popularity, players have been experiencing server instability and capacity issues on both PlayStation 5 and PC platforms, with the situation escalating this week. The total capacity of concurrent players was initially raised from 250,000 to 360,000 before being capped at 450,000, but the problems persist.
The active player count for Helldivers 2 has exceeded 411,000, surpassing even established titles like Grand Theft Auto 5, indicating a strong player base. However, Arrowhead’s CEO and Helldivers 2 creative director Johan Pilestedt believes that now might not be the best time to invest in the game.
In response to a user expressing interest in playing the game but lacking the funds, Pilestedt advised, “If you have no cash, get it later. While we made a really fun game, it’s worth waiting until the servers can support the capacity.” He emphasized the need to avoid disappointment from server queues due to financial constraints.
Although an update for PS5 and PC is expected today, Arrowhead cautioned that it may not resolve all the issues, with more patches planned for the near future. The studio is also considering introducing an AFK timer to address lengthy queue times.
