Baldur’s Gate 3 hotfix stops Minthara from exercising ‘a little too much independence’

A New Hotfix for Baldur’s Gate 3 Improves Companion Minthara

A recent update for Baldur’s Gate 3 has been released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Mac, addressing issues with the drow companion Minthara and introducing several other fixes.

Xbox Series X|S players can also expect to receive hotfix 20 soon, with Larian Studios advising them to stay tuned for further updates on its release.

Improvements to Minthara

The latest hotfix, version 20, focuses on enhancing the experience with Minthara. One of the key changes ensures that she follows your party correctly in the game’s second and third acts. Additionally, players can now remove Minthara from their party after she is escorted from the Moonrise Towers, preventing her from getting stuck there.

Larian Studios explained in the patch notes, “Was Minthara exercising perhaps a little too much independence? We’ve fixed an issue where everyone’s favorite drow would simply decide not to follow the party in Act 2 or Act 3. You should find her more willing to fall in line now – at least in terms of keeping up. She’s still something of a free spirit.”

Other Fixes and Changes

Aside from Minthara-related improvements, hotfix 20 also includes additional crash safeguards. Players will now be returned to the main menu automatically if a save file fails to load. Furthermore, a potential crash triggered by complex cinematics has been resolved, along with an issue where characters would falsely claim to be too busy to talk to you.
