Raft – How to Use Metal Detector

You Need Titanium in Raft

You need Titanium to craft many crucial end-game items and structures in Raft.

If you’re wondering how to get Titanium efficiently, the best way is to dig for treasures using a Metal Detector.

Using a Metal Detector in Raft

To use a Metal Detector in Raft, add it to your hotbar and hold down the left mouse button while on any island to start scanning the area. The closer you are to the treasure, the faster the Metal Detector beeps, and more lights fill up on the screen. The Metal Detector will play a celebratory sound when you’re directly above the treasure. Use a Shovel to dig three times at that spot to unearth the treasure.

How to Craft a Metal Detector in Raft

To craft a Metal Detector, you first need to find its blueprint.

You can find the Metal Detector blueprint on Caravan Town, the fourth story island. Look for it inside a submerged metal container, alongside the Infirmary Key. To access this container, you’ll need a bicycle and a long oxygen pipe to reach the underwater location.

After retrieving the blueprint, research the following materials on your raft to unlock the Metal Detector recipe:

  • 1x Plastic
  • 1x Scrap
  • 1x Battery

Once unlocked, you can find the Metal Detector recipe in the Tool crafting tab, along with the necessary resources needed to craft it.

Locating Treasures with the Metal Detector

The Metal Detector is used to scan for treasures on islands in Raft.

  • Small tropical islands: 1 treasure
  • Large tropical islands: 2-3 treasures
  • Desert islands: 1 treasure
  • Evergreen islands: 2-3 treasures
  • Story islands: Varied number of treasures

Ensure you’re on the correct island before using the Metal Detector. Hold the left mouse button to scan the area, and if no sound or lights are detected, move to a different location on the island to try again.

Two States of a Metal Detector

Keep scanning until you hear a beeping sound and see lights indicating a nearby treasure. Follow the direction indicated, and remember to release the left mouse button periodically to preserve the Metal Detector’s durability.

After pinpointing the treasure location, use a Shovel to dig and collect the items.
