Helldivers 2’s next campaign is against the bugs, introduces flying enemies and massive pesticide towers

Exciting Development in Helldivers 2

Exciting news for fans of sci-fi violence as Helldivers 2 unveils a brand new Major Order, marking a significant advancement in the massive online co-operative campaign.

Players are now tasked with protecting four planets on the frontier from the Terminid insect swarm by utilizing massive pesticide towers to “inoculate each planet with Termicide, quarantine the bugs permanently.” However, this task is contingent upon completing enough missions in time and fending off the emergence of new insectoid enemy types.

Reports have been coming in from players about the appearance of flying bugs during missions. Creative director Johan Pilestedt responded to these reports in a characteristic satirical manner on Twitter, stating: “I’ve heard rumors of flying bugs in Helldivers 2. I want to officially refute such preposterous claims. Everyone knows that ‘Bugs can’t fly’. And I’m not alone in thinking this. The Ministry of Truth agrees that this is propaganda from bug sympathizers that want to brainwash good people.”

Twitter Revelations and Insectoid Perils

Following Pilestedt’s response, an observant Twitter user pointed out a flying bug discreetly hidden on the Helldivers 2 box art. Pilestedt dismissed this observation as “image manipulation by traitors” in a playful rebuttal.

In further Helldivers 2 updates, Pilestedt disclosed that certain insectoid hordes within the game have the ability to “smell” players. He explained, “If you’re in proximity to some of the units that are very aware like the Stalker, they will detect you, no matter if they can see you [or not].”
