Latest Xbox Update Preview for Alpha Insiders
Hey Xbox Insiders! A new Xbox Update Preview is rolling out to the Alpha ring today. It’s essential to highlight that these preview OS builds contain background enhancements to ensure a stable and high-quality experience for Xbox consoles. Even if the changes to the UI are subtle or behind the scenes, we will continue to share these release notes so you stay informed about upcoming updates for your device.

- Available: 2 p.m. PT – March 15, 2024

New Features and Experiences
We’ve got some exciting news for Alpha users in the Xbox Update Preview!
Discord Voice – Soundboard Audio
Xbox players who participate in Discord Voice can now listen to soundboard audio from others in the channel or call. You can find a mute button for soundboard audio in the Discord Voice options in the Guide. Please note that triggering soundboard audio from the console is not currently supported.
Settings – Access Restrictions
We have introduced two new access restrictions options for installing and uninstalling games and apps. To access them, navigate to Settings > System > Access restrictions.
Fixes Included
Thanks to the valuable feedback from Xbox Insiders and the dedicated work of Xbox engineers, the following fixes have been implemented in this build:
System
- Various updates to accurately display local languages across the console.
Known Issues
Although known issues may have been mentioned in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes, rest assured they are being addressed. It may take some time for Xbox engineers to find a resolution. If you encounter any of these issues, please follow the guidance provided and submit feedback with Report a Problem.
Audio
- Some users have reported intermittent audio problems across the dashboard, games, and apps.
- Troubleshooting: If you experience issues, ensure your TV and all other equipment have the latest firmware installed. If unsure, contact the manufacturer for assistance. Additional troubleshooting tips can be found here: Troubleshoot audio on your Xbox console.
- Feedback: If problems persist after updating firmware and further troubleshooting, please submit feedback via Report a Problem when experiencing the issue. Use the “Reproduce with advanced diagnostics” option, then select the category “Console experiences” and “Console Audio Output Issues”.
- Note: Include as much information as possible about the issue, when it started, your setup, troubleshooting steps taken, and any additional details to help recreate the issue.
Networking
- We are investigating reports of a networking issue where the console may not connect immediately upon boot. If you encounter this problem, report it via Report a Problem as soon as possible.
- Workaround: Allow a minute or two for the connection to establish. If your console still doesn’t connect, restart it from the Power Center or the guide, then report the issue with Report a Problem. Learn more about restarting here: How to restart or power cycle your Xbox console.
Make sure to use Report a Problem to keep us informed of any issues you encounter. While we may not respond to everyone, the data we collect is vital for finding a resolution.
