How Equipment Conversion Works
The concept of equipment conversion in Hearts of Iron 4 can be confusing for many seasoned players. Despite its potential usefulness, it remains a mechanic that is often overlooked during playthroughs.
Essentially, equipment conversion allows you to upgrade older versions of specific types of equipment into newer models. However, it’s important to note that you can only convert equipment into evolved versions of itself at the same level. For example, Infantry Equipment I cannot be converted into Infantry Equipment II.
To initiate equipment conversion in HOI4, simply access the Production tab and click on the Convert from Stockpile button located next to the image of the equipment.
How to Convert Equipment in HOI4
- Open the Production tab.
- Locate the equipment you wish to convert.
- Click on the green Convert from Stockpile button to the left of the equipment image, indicated by a hangar icon surrounded by two arrows.
If the conversion button is missing or grayed out, it means that the specific piece of equipment cannot be converted or there are no suitable items in the stockpile for conversion.
Equipment Conversion Speed
Within the Industry tab of the research tree, players can discover two upgrades that collectively boost the equipment conversion speed by 80%. This enhancement accelerates the process of transitioning from old equipment models to newer ones. However, these upgrades are generally not considered essential, as the conversion mechanic is not frequently utilized. It may be more beneficial to allocate research slots to more impactful technological advancements.
