The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Continues to Dominate in Game Gauntlet
If you’ve been following our Game Gauntlet bracket, where readers vote for the best game of all time, you may have noticed a strong contender – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. This epic game has defeated tough competitors like Fallout 3, Final Fantasy VII, Elden Ring, and The Last of Us. Skyrim was a revolutionary open-world adventure upon its initial release, and fans still hold it dear even after 13 years. It’s no wonder that the gaming community eagerly anticipates news of a sequel. Fortunately, we have a small update to share with fans who are eagerly waiting.
Celebrating 30 Years of The Elder Scrolls Series
Three decades ago, The Elder Scrolls series began with The Elder Scrolls: Arena. To mark this milestone, Bethesda created a commemorative post that takes a trip down memory lane through each game in the franchise. The post includes a brief mention of the highly awaited next installment.
The post includes the following statement, “Last but not least, yes, we are in development on the next chapter – The Elder Scrolls VI. Even now, returning to Tamriel and playing early builds has us filled with the same joy, excitement, and promise of adventure.”
While details are scarce, this confirmation implies that the game will remain on the continent of Tamriel rather than exploring other regions in the fantasy world. Additionally, it suggests that the game is in a playable state. However, the release date is still uncertain. The most recent information was leaked from Microsoft’s private documents during its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, indicating a possible release date sometime in 2026 or later.
