GTA+ Subscription Increases in Price
Rockstar Games has recently announced a substantial price increase for its GTA+ subscription service, leading many players to feel like they’ve been pulled off in a heist.
Originally introduced in 2022, the GTA+ subscription offers players additional in-game cash, cars, cosmetics, and exclusive events for GTA Online. Additionally, subscribers gain access to a rotating selection of Rockstar titles, such as the PS4 version of Red Dead Redemption and its Undead Nightmare expansion. This year, L.A. Noire and Bully are set to join the service as well.
However, the subscription price is set to jump from $5.99 / €5.99 / £4.99 to $7.99 / €7.99 / £6.99 per month, a significant increase that may not sit well with fans in the US, Europe, and the UK.
This move follows a trend of rising prices for entertainment subscriptions, with services like EA Play and PS Plus also experiencing price hikes in the past year.
Despite the anticipation for GTA VI, which is not expected to release until at least 2025, it seems that Rockstar has no intentions of discontinuing GTA+ any time soon. Nonetheless, the timing and magnitude of this price increase for a subscription service tied to a decade-old game like GTA Online may come across as a bit questionable. With no new Rockstar titles in almost six years, some loyal GTA Online players might view this price hike as unexpected and unwarranted.
Even the most dedicated GTA Online fans may find it difficult to justify this sudden and significant increase in subscription fees.
