Sony Interactive Entertainment shuts down LittleBigPlanet 3 PS4 servers
Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially announced the indefinite shutdown of the LittleBigPlanet 3 PS4 servers. This comes after the servers were previously taken offline due to technical issues back in September 2021. Following the shutdown of online services for all LittleBigPlanet games on the PS3 and PS Vita, the PS4 version has now met the same fate.
LittleBigPlanet 3 PS4 servers were previously hacked but came back online
In September 2021, Sony faced challenges with hackers and technical issues affecting all LittleBigPlanet games across the PS3, PS Vita, and PS4. Although efforts were made to address the issues, eventually leading to the shutdown of services for PS3 and Vita, the LBP 3 PS4 servers were able to come back online temporarily. However, in January, the problems resurfaced, leading to the latest decision for the indefinite shutdown.
Players have now lost access to the community-created content on the servers, with only locally stored user-generated content on the PS4 remaining accessible. While players can still create new content, they are unable to share it with others. Despite being able to play LBP 3 offline, much of the game’s charm came from its vibrant online community. The game marked its ninth anniversary in November.
