The Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update Is Here
The Fallout franchise is experiencing a resurgence, thanks to the success of the live-action series on Amazon Prime. Fallout 4, despite being almost a decade old, has surged in sales recently, prompting the release of a long-awaited next-gen update.
Next-Gen Upgrades for Console Players
The update brings significant technical improvements for console players. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S users will now have access to native versions of the game, optimized for their respective platforms. Players can choose between a Performance Mode, offering 60 fps at 4k resolution with standard graphics settings, or a Quality Mode, providing 30 fps at 4k resolution with graphics set to ultra. Additionally, when connected to a 120 Hz display, Quality Mode will target 40 fps, and on a 1440p display, the game will run at 60 fps with a 1440p resolution, regardless of rendering mode.
Enhancements for PC Players
PC players will also benefit from the update. Fallout 4 will now be available on the Epic Store, and widescreen and ultra-widescreen support have been added for those with compatible monitors. Steam users can rejoice as the game is now officially Steam Deck Verified, allowing for gaming on the go. While the update is not yet available on GOG, it is expected to arrive soon.
Additional Updates and Free Content
Along with various bug fixes for both PC and console, players will receive nine free Creation Club items as part of the update.
