The director of Assassin’s Creed Mirage has shared insights on possible ways to further develop the story of protagonist Basim.
While it was previously announced that there would be no downloadable content (DLC) for the latest installment of Assassin’s Creed, game director Stéphane Boudon recently participated in a Reddit AMA where he discussed the team’s ideas for expanding Basim’s narrative (via VGC).
Responding to a question about the potential for DLC or additional storyline content given the positive reception of the game, Boudon stated, “We’re thrilled by the reception of Mirage! Mirage has been designed as a standalone experience without any DLC plan.”
“However, we have ideas on how we could extend the story of Basim, surely. But as of today, no post-launch content is planned for Mirage.”
Regarding the possibility of creating another game centered around Basim, Boudon mentioned that while there is more to explore in Basim’s story, the team is also interested in pursuing new directions.
“Telling the coming-of-age story of Basim was a blast for us so clearly yes, we still have a lot to say about Basim,” he explained. “On the other hand, creating a game with that many constraints is a difficult exercise, and as a team, we would also love to explore new horizons and have more creative freedom.”
Boudon confirmed that Ubisoft has no plans for major updates for Mirage moving forward but emphasized that they will continue to monitor player feedback.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage was released in September 2023 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Following its launch, the game introduced New Game Plus and a new setting called Full Synchronisation Challenge mode, offering players a permadeath experience throughout the entire game. These additions are currently the only updates Ubisoft has scheduled post-launch.
