A New Update for PlayStation 5
A new and exciting update is on the way for PlayStation 5 users, bringing a convenient new feature that allows players to join parties using a QR code.
According to a recent post on PlayStation Blog, the company has revealed that in the near future, users will have the ability to generate a shareable link either on their PS5 console or the PlayStation App. This link can then be sent to other players via messaging apps or social media platforms.
Once a recipient opens the link from the QR code, they will be able to seamlessly join the sender’s multiplayer session, even if they are not already friends on PlayStation Network.
“This feature is designed to complement existing methods of joining a session from within a PS5 game and is consistent for any supported PS5 game,” the post explains.
PlayStation has also developed a special “unique widget” for PS5 session invites that can be shared in Discord. This widget will dynamically update to display the current multiplayer session status, allowing players to know if the session is still active before joining.
In addition to the QR code feature, the upcoming update will also allow users to easily share their own or another player’s PSN profile on various messaging or social media apps by generating a link from the PlayStation App, the PS5 console, or the official web profile.
“These are just a few of the steps we’re taking to make it easier for you to connect with players online and jump into multiplayer sessions together,” PlayStation emphasizes.
