Compact Mode continues evolving in the Xbox App on PC

Jump back in comes to Compact Mode

In November, the Xbox app on PC introduced Compact Mode, catering to enhancing the gaming experience on smaller screens like Windows handhelds. The latest addition to this feature is the “Jump back in” function, along with improvements to the Friends panel, which is now rolling out to all Xbox Insiders in the PC Gaming Preview program.

Originally designed to provide more browsing space by streamlining the sidebar, Compact Mode now offers the “Jump back in” feature. This feature allows users to easily access the games they have recently played on their Windows device while in Compact Mode.

The “Jump back in” feature will display the last nine games played from the app. By clicking on any game card, users will be taken directly to the game hub to start playing. Additionally, players can launch into gameplay directly from the context menu by right-clicking or pressing the menu button on their controller.

Enhancements to the Friends panel

With Compact Mode, accessing the Friends panel is now simpler through controller navigation. Users can quickly access it from the sidebar, similar to other panels like Notifications. Feedback on the Friends panel experience is welcomed as improvements are continuously being made.

Next week, a new survey will be available in the Xbox Insider Hub for players enrolled in the PC Gaming Preview to provide feedback on the “Jump back in” feature and the updated Friends panel access in Compact Mode. Players can always offer suggestions or feedback by accessing the Profile card within the Xbox App and selecting Feedback from the dropdown menu.
