Dead Cells developer Evil Empire delays The Rogue Prince of Persia
Evil Empire, the developer behind Dead Cells, has announced a delay for its upcoming roguelike game, The Rogue Prince of Persia. Originally scheduled for release on Tuesday, May 14 in PC Early Access, the game will now be postponed until later this month. The reason for the delay? Hades II, another popular roguelike game that recently hit Early Access.
A statement from Evil Empire explained the decision, “It’s been a bit of a crazy week for us. It all started when a little game called Hades II released – you might have heard of it? Seeing as everyone is playing that game, including our entire team, we have decided to let people have their fun with it before we release The Rogue Prince of Persia.”
The team assured that The Rogue Prince of Persia will still be released in May, with a precise date to be announced soon. The delay will allow for further polishing of the game, addition of new features, and bug fixes. The Day One patch for the game was also mentioned to be getting significant improvements with the extra time for testing.
Game Informer had a hands-on experience with the game and praised it, and players can read the preview impressions on The Rogue Prince of Persia. For a closer look at the gameplay, a New Gameplay Today video is available for viewing. Additionally, there is a discussion with Evil Empire about the difference between roguelikes and rogue-lites.
