Review – Sand Land (PlayStation 5)

Water Demon

Sand Land is an action RPG based on the popular Japanese manga series created by Akira Toriyama. Set in a post-apocalyptic world where water is scarce, humans and demons must work together to defeat a corrupt king who seeks to control the limited water supply for his own gain. The game stays true to the manga’s story, following the adventures of Beelzebub, a mischievous demon who teams up with a human named Rao to find a magical spring with abundant water.

The game’s cel-shaded graphics and post-apocalyptic setting may remind players of the Borderlands series. Sand Land offers a mix of exploration, combat, and vehicular gameplay. Players take on the role of Beelzebub, using various combat moves to survive in a harsh desert environment. The game encourages collaboration between humans and demons to overcome challenges and uncover hidden treasures.

Although the early stages of the game may feel linear, Sand Land opens up to allow for side quests, exploration, and customization options. Players can engage in vehicular combat, upgrade their vehicles, and participate in various activities to enhance their gaming experience.

As players progress through Sand Land, they can unlock new abilities, vehicles, and upgrades to enhance their gameplay. The game’s mix of action, exploration, and customization offers a unique gaming experience for fans of the manga series and newcomers alike.
