Customizing Your Ship in Starfield
A key aspect of Starfield is the ability to personalize various elements to reflect your unique identity within the space RPG world. This includes traits, appearance, and now, with the latest update, the option to decorate your ship. If you’re looking to add some flair to your space vessel, here’s a helpful guide to navigating the customization process.
How to Decorate the Interior of Your Ship
First and foremost, you’ll want to access the shipbuilder on your preferred vessel, such as the Narwhal. Look for parts that are labeled as Empty, typically found within the Hab Manufacture section. Ensure that the dimensions of the section you select are 2×1, as smaller 1×1 sections may not qualify as Empty Habs. Once you’ve identified the Empty Hab, you can begin adding decorations to that specific area of your ship.
It’s important to note that you have the option to incorporate more than one Empty Hab, providing you with additional opportunities to customize your ship to your liking.
Before diving into the decorating process, it’s highly recommended to relocate your crew members to outposts. Despite the new update in Starfield, the AI can still be disruptive as you rearrange and embellish your ship. Clearing the ship of crew members beforehand can help streamline the customization experience.
Decorating Your Ship
Once inside your ship, head to the cockpit area where you’ll find a wall panel labeled as Decorate. Interact with this panel to access a menu similar to the Outpost interface, allowing you to add, move, and arrange various decorations. Be sure to have the necessary materials on hand, as decorations cannot be conjured out of thin air.
The shipbuilding feature in Starfield is incredibly detailed, with some players even discovering how to recreate ships from popular media, such as the iconic vessel from Futurama.
