Alan Wake II: Night Springs DLC Review

Exploring Night Springs in Alan Wake II: A DLC Review

In Alan Wake II, the absence of Night Springs episodes on the in-game televisions was a disappointing discovery for fans of the original game. However, the newly released Alan Wake II: Night Springs DLC brings back these quirky, Twilight Zone-inspired tales in a fully playable form. This DLC consists of three standalone stories that take players back to the small town of Bright Falls and beyond. While the episodes may be short, the twisted nightmares they offer are a blast to experience.

Number One Fan

The first episode of Night Springs, titled “Number One Fan,” is a mix of goofiness and gore. Players take on the role of Rose Marigold, an obsessive Alan Wake fan working at the Oh Deer Diner in Bright Falls. The episode kicks off with Rose receiving an SOS from Alan Wake himself, leading her on a bloodthirsty rescue mission. The combat in this episode is action-packed, with Rose armed to the teeth and ready to take on any enemy that crosses her path.

North Star

The second episode, “North Star,” slows down the pace as players navigate through the dark depths of Alan Wake II. This episode features Jesse Faden from Control, armed only with a flashlight and pistol as she explores a creepy theme park. While the episode has its share of puzzles and tense moments, it falls slightly short compared to the other episodes in the DLC.

Time Breaker

The final episode of Night Springs, “Time Breaker,” is a mind-bending experience that takes players on a surreal journey through time and space. Players step into the shoes of real-world actor Shawn Ashmore, reprising his role as Sheriff Breaker in a new game directed by Sam Lake. The episode features excellent storytelling and unique level designs that keep players engaged until the end.
