Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Development

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle‘s development is progressing smoothly, offering a truly authentic Indiana Jones adventure in both narrative and gameplay.

According to Gustafsson, “The story begins with the theft of an ancient relic from the college where Indiana Jones is employed. As he sets out to hunt down the thief, he gets entangled in an ancient conspiracy revolving around the Great Circle theory. The Great Circle is a mysterious alignment of ancient sites worldwide, with a collection of enigmatic artifacts linked to it. However, Indy is not the only one seeking answers. The adversaries are scouring the globe for these artifacts, convinced they possess significant power. To thwart them, Indy must be the first to locate the artifacts.”

Collaboration with Lucasfilm Games

The project’s inception came from Todd Howard, Director and Executive Producer at Bethesda Game Studios, who had long contemplated crafting a narrative centered on the Great Circle concept. MachineGames collaborated closely with Lucasfilm Games to ensure their original adventure stayed true to the iconic movies.

Gustafsson mentioned, “We dedicated numerous hours rewatching the films, especially ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ and ‘The Last Crusade.’ Additionally, our partnership with Lucasfilm Games provided invaluable insight into the character, thanks to writers and art directors who have been involved with the Indiana Jones franchise for decades.”

Authenticity to the Series

Extensive research was conducted by the writers and artists on the team, delving not only into the films but also comics and books. Indy’s costume was meticulously recreated, including his iconic fedora produced by the same hatmaker who crafted the original for ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark.’ Furthermore, renowned music composer Gordy Haab, known for his Grammy-winning work on ‘Star Wars Jedi: Survivor,’ was enlisted to create a score worthy of John Williams.

Character Authenticity and Game Details

While many of the characters will be fresh additions to the franchise, the latest trailer showcased more of Indy’s companion, Marcus Brody. Gustafsson hinted at cameo appearances from other classic characters throughout the game. Renowned actor Troy Baker’s portrayal of Indiana Jones was hailed for its authenticity, capturing the essence of the character flawlessly.

MachineGames is renowned for its brutal shooter games like the Wolfenstein series, but Indiana Jones and the Great Circle diverges into a more traditional adventure game. Players will solve puzzles, employ stealth, engage in fist-fighting sequences, and tackle challenges using their intellect rather than sheer firepower.

First-Person Gameplay

Set primarily in a first-person perspective, the game aims to immerse players in Indy’s shoes while providing the occasional third-person view during key moments to enhance the cinematic experience.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will launch later this year on Xbox Series X|S and PC, offering players the opportunity to embark on an epic adventure day one on Game Pass!
