Hogwarts Legacy: How to solve the Keenbridge Merlin Trial

I imagine that the Keenbridge Merlin Trial has stumped many Hogwarts Legacy players for a particular reason: they don’t have the right tools for the job. As you make your way through the story, you unlock more and more spells. Some are offensive spells, while others let you manipulate objects in the world around you. This Merlin Trial requires that you know some later spells, leaving players early on in the game wondering just what to do.

Here are the spells you can use for solving the trial:

For all intents and purposes, the ideal spell to use for this trial is Wingardium Leviosa. Click on the spells to check out our guides on how to obtain them. You can complete the trial with Depulso, but it’ll take a lot more work.

Solving the trial

Head to the Keenbridge hamlet just south of Hogwarts Castle. Activate the trial by tossing some Mallowsweet Leaves onto the stone platform. Here’s our guide on how to get more Mallowsweet if you’re running low. Just north of the activation point, head to the farm where you’ll spot a massive, stone ball next to a disheveled cart.

If you only have Depulso unlocked, you may be able to push the boulder up and over the fence using the cart. But it’s tricky, and one false move means having to start all over. Instead, I’d highly suggest using Wingardium Leviosa, which lets you manipulate the boulder like an adorable balloon.

Next, push or walk the boulder across the bridge next to the Merlin Trial starting point. On the other side near a graveyard, you’ll see a deep indention in the ground. Drop the boulder there, and the trial is complete.

And that’s how you complete the Keenbridge Merlin Trial in Hogwarts Legacy. Best of luck getting that inventory space.
