Diablo 4 Season 1 Start Date

What You Need to Know About Diablo 4 Seasons

After much anticipation, Diablo 4 has finally been released, offering players an immersive story campaign and engaging endgame activities. However, one important element is missing—the game’s first live season. Prior to the release of Diablo 4, Blizzard announced that the first season would not launch alongside the game.

Once the first season of Diablo 4 begins, players can expect a host of new gameplay offerings, quests, a Battle Pass, and a unique theme to tie it all together. Although not much information has been shared about the season’s gameplay content, there are some details available regarding the Battle Pass and the expected release date of Diablo 4 Season 1.

What to Expect From Diablo 4 Seasons

If you’re new to Diablo 4, seasons function similarly to those in Diablo 3. They provide an opportunity for players to start fresh with a Seasonal Character. These characters can participate in unique updates and additions specific to each season. At the end of the season, the characters become non-seasonal but remain playable in the Eternal Real without the benefits of being a Seasonal Character.

Seasons offer a chance for players to experiment with different classes, as each new season often brings updates that affect the meta and rankings of each class. Whether you’re a Diablo franchise veteran or a newcomer, seasons provide an exciting opportunity to embark on a new chapter in your journey.

What is Season Journey?

Season Journeys are a series of objectives that players can complete while progressing through chapters. They resemble the structure of Diablo 3’s seasons. By following the chapters and completing various objectives, players can advance through the season’s story and unlock rewards.

The objectives include a range of tasks, such as completing local events, collecting specific materials, and tackling dungeons and strongholds in different regions. In later chapters, players may be tasked with engaging in seasonal activities and Nightmare dungeons.

Diablo 4 Season 1 Battle Pass

One of the most exciting features of upcoming seasons in Diablo 4 is the introduction of the Battle Pass. In addition to the Season Journey with its own unlockable rewards and objectives, each season will incorporate a Battle Pass.

To progress through the Battle Pass tiers and unlock free rewards, players will need to earn Favor XP. This can be achieved by completing World Events, quests, defeating monsters, and fulfilling Season Journey objectives. Each season will have three tiers of the Battle Pass: a free tier, a premium tier available for approximately $9.99, and an accelerated premium tier available for $24.99. The accelerated premium tier includes an exclusive cosmetic reward.

For players who prefer not to spend additional money after purchasing the game, there is a free track of the Battle Pass that can be earned through gameplay. However, this track only provides gameplay-related benefits, whereas the premium tiers offer cosmetic rewards in addition to the benefits.

While the final version of the Season 1 Battle Pass has yet to be seen, pre-released images indicate that the free version of the Battle Pass will include items such as titles, gold, Smoldering Ashes, Season Boots, emotes, emblems, and a few cosmetics.

Smoldering Ashes and Season Boots?

Among the rewards in the Battle Pass, Smoldering Ashes holds significant value. It is a unique currency that can be used to upgrade and unlock season blessings, which provide permanent passive buffs for all characters. The season blessings in the first season include the Urn of Aggression, Urn of Prolonging, Urn of Bargaining, and Urn of Reclamation, each offering different beneficial effects.

Season Boots, on the other hand, serve as XP boosters to expedite the unlocking of additional Battle Pass tiers.

When Will Diablo 4’s Season 1 Start?

While an exact date has yet to be announced, Season 1 of Diablo 4 is expected to commence around mid to late July and last for three months. Blizzard aims to allow players ample time to complete the campaign before delving into the seasonal content. Quarterly seasons are planned, with each season lasting approximately three months before transitioning to the next.
