How to Get Fabric in Project Zomboid

1. How to Get Ripped Sheets

Ripped sheets are one of the most common materials in Project Zomboid, and you can find them everywhere. There are two main ways to obtain ripped sheets.

  • Cleaning Dirty Rags: Dirty rags can be converted into ripped sheets. You can find dirty rags in garbage bins or in the laundry. To convert a dirty rag into a ripped sheet, make sure you have a water container in your inventory. Right-click on the dirty rag and select “Clean Rag”. You will receive a corresponding number of ripped sheets.
  • Ripping Clothing: Another way to obtain ripped sheets is by ripping any type of clothing except for denim and leather clothes. To do this, right-click on the item of clothing and select “Rip Clothing” followed by “All” or “One”. Each ripped sheet obtained through this method may come with the bonus of earning XP for your tailoring skill.

2. How to Get Denim Strips

Denim strips can only be obtained by ripping denim clothes. Here’s how:

  • Ripping Denim Clothes: Right-click on a denim shirt or trousers and select “Rip Clothing” followed by “All” or “One”. Please note that you will need to have scissors in your inventory to use this option. Scissors can be found in lockers, shelves, desks, and drawers in most houses.

Similar to ripping ripped sheets, this method may also reward you with thread and contribute to your tailoring skill’s XP. However, denim clothes are less common than casual clothes, so finding them may require some effort.

3. How to Get Leather Strips

Leather strips are obtained by ripping leather clothes. Follow these steps:

  • Ripping Leather Clothes: Right-click on the leather clothes and select “Rip Clothing” followed by “All” or “One”. To use this option, you must have scissors in your inventory.

Leather clothes are quite rare in the game, making it more challenging to obtain leather strips. To increase your chances, consider looting corpses of zombies wearing leather clothes instead of relying solely on searching houses. Each ripping of leather clothes may yield 2-6 leather strips and provide the opportunity to obtain thread.
