Breaking News: Far Cry Source Code Leaked Online
In a surprising development, the complete source code for Far Cry, known as “Far Cry 1.34 Complete,” has been uploaded to Archive.org by a user named Llaetha.ro. Since its upload at the end of June, it has been widely shared across Reddit and social media platforms.
The uploaded source code is believed to include subsequent patches, indicated by the .34 part of the 1.34 title. However, some users who have downloaded and examined the code claim that it is not entirely complete, but close to it.
According to a user on the archive.org website, “From my educated guess, this is some source tree leak for the PC version of the game to add support for the Ubisoft game launcher / DRM.”
Although the source code does contain some .exes, it does not include Xbox code or game assets. Furthermore, those who have attempted to compile the code have encountered 332 errors, suggesting that additional effort and understanding of the code base would be required to run a debug PC version of the game.
In other news, the upcoming animated adaptation of Far Cry, titled Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, recently debuted its first trailer. Created and written by series creator Adi Shankar, known for his work on Netflix’s Castlevania adaptation, Captain Laserhawk is described as a nostalgic homage to the 90s.
