Mobile Game Publisher Homa Forms Strategic Partnership with 8sec

Mobile game publisher Homa has announced a strategic partnership with hybridcasual mobile gaming studio 8sec. The collaboration aims to publish 8sec’s new hybridcasual title, Merge Army, in September 2023. This partnership signifies Homa’s increased investment and focus on the hybridcasual genre, following their previous collaboration with analytics firm SensorTower for The Hybridcasual Games Playbook. The playbook revealed that hybridcasual games have amassed over five billion downloads and nearly doubled revenue.

Olivier Le Bas, Co-founder and CRO of Homa, expressed his excitement about joining forces with 8sec and launching another potentially successful game. Le Bas stated, “At Homa, we’re strengthening our hybridcasual division and providing the best expertise and tools through Homa Lab to help studios build the strongest hybridcasual games on the market.”

Louis Giraud, Co-founder and CEO of 8sec, shared his confidence in the collaboration, stating, “We’re confident that combining 8sec’s game development expertise with Homa’s knowledge in hybridcasual and publishing capabilities will yield amazing results.”

The Rise of Hybridcasual

Throughout the mobile games industry, there has been an ongoing debate regarding the decline of hypercasual games and the emergence of hybridcasual games. With key performance indicators (KPIs) for hypercasual gradually dropping, the potential to combine casual gameplay with a retention-focused, slightly more hardcore loop has become attractive to many publishers and developers.

Homa, known for their pursuit of new trends and innovative ventures, is set to further establish this reputation through their partnership with 8sec. By enhancing the game’s core loop and introducing meta-progression elements, Homa aims to improve player retention, while 8sec focuses on the core development process.
