Tears of the Kingdom – Guide to Access and Clear Cape Cales Cliffbase Cave in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Are you an avid player of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? If so, you’ll want to know how to access and clear Cape Cales Cliffbase Cave. This cave is home to some fantastic loot and the usual Bubbulfrog enemies. However, it’s not an easy cave to find or conquer. In this guide, we’ll give you step-by-step instructions on how to enter and successfully clear Cape Cales Cliffbase Cave.
Location and Access
Cape Cales Cliffbase Cave is situated near the southeastern corner of Hyrule. It’s north of Cape Cresia and northeast of Lurelin Village. If you’ve unlocked Bamitok Shrine, which is under Mount Dunsel, you can fast travel there and make your way to the surface. From there, head east while avoiding the monster encampment until you reach the cliffs overlooking the sea.
Entering the Cave
Once you’ve reached the cliffs, drop off the north side and glide down to the base. You’ll find the entrance to Cape Cales Cliffbase Cave to the east of your current location within the cave. Use the above map screenshot as a reference. The entrance is easily identifiable. To enter, simply glide through the wide opening and land on the floating plank without touching the water.
Unlocking the Gate
While standing on the plank facing a rock wall, press the Down button on the d-pad to whistle for your horse. To your surprise, the rock wall is actually a hidden gate that opens when you whistle. Swim through the gate and make your way to the shoreline on the left. Defeat the enemy there and search for another floating plank in the water. You can either attach a Fan to ride it forward or swim to traverse the short distance.
Conquering the Ship
Once you reach the waiting ship, defeat the enemies on board. They are skeletal foes and shouldn’t pose much of a threat. It’s advisable to wear the Rubber Armor, if you have it, as one of the enemies uses electrical arrows. After eliminating the enemies, climb one of the masts to find a treasure chest containing the powerful Savage Lynel Bow, one of the best bows in the game.
Collecting the Gem
After clearing the ship, explore the area and you’ll find another branch of the cave leading to a watery dead end. Stand on the floating plank and use your bow to eliminate the Bubbulfrog enemy and collect the Bubbul Gem. With that, you’ve successfully completed the Cape Cales Cliffbase Cave!
