Accessory manufacturer Hori has revealed two new designs for its Split Pad Compact controller. One design is based on Sonic the Hedgehog, while the other features Bandai Namco’s mascot Pac-Man. These controllers, which have controls shaped like regular Joy-Con and extra buttons for command reassignments, will retail for $59.99 USD and are set to be released at the end of October 2023. Pre-orders are currently available for the Pac-Man design, and the Sonic design will be available soon.
The Split Pad Compact, an officially licensed controller, offers an ergonomic form factor for enhanced comfort and control. It includes useful features such as turbo functions, an actual D-pad, and reassignable buttons. However, it lacks motion controls, HD Rumble, NFC, and IR camera functionality.
