Stardew Valley – What Gifts Does Penny Like?

The only way to win over a character’s heart in Stardew Valley is through gift-giving. The more gifts you give, the more friendship points you accumulate with that character.

In Stardew Valley, relationships are represented by hearts, which visually display your total friendship points. Most normal NPCs can have anywhere from 0 to 10 hearts, and if you’re married, you can even reach up to 14 hearts with your spouse.

Penny is one of the romanceable characters in Stardew Valley, and knowing the right gifts to give her will make the process of romancing her much easier. Since you can only give two gifts per week, it’s important to choose carefully.

Although Penny has many gifts/items that she likes and loves in Stardew Valley, the best item you can give her, especially if you enjoy farming, is Wine.

How Friendship Works and Why You Should Give Gifts in Stardew Valley

To build relationships with NPCs in Stardew Valley, giving them gifts is crucial. Each character has specific items they love or hate, and depending on their reaction, your friendship points will either increase or decrease.

The maximum number of friendship hearts you can have with villagers in Stardew Valley is 10. However, as a bachelorette, Penny has a limit of 14 hearts, which increases after marrying her.

To earn hearts with Penny, you need to start accumulating friendship points with her. In Stardew Valley, each heart is worth 250 friendship points, but these points gradually decrease over time.

The most effective way to befriend someone is by giving them gifts they love. This will earn you 80 friendship points. If you don’t have those items, you can also give them liked items, which will grant you 45 friendship points.

As long as you avoid giving them disliked or hated gifts, your relationship with NPCs will only improve through gift-giving. Since you only lose 2 points per day with them, giving liked gifts is usually sufficient.

Best Gift to Give Penny in Stardew Valley

During the first year’s Spring in Stardew Valley, it’s almost impossible to obtain the items Penny loves.

Therefore, the best gifts to give her during the initial season would be Dandelions and Leeks, as they are easily found and liked by her.

Once Summer arrives, Penny becomes one of the easiest NPCs to romance. You can simply grow a substantial number of Melons and give some to her as well.

Since Melons are also one of the most profitable crops during Summer in Stardew Valley, it’s a good idea to grow them whether you plan to give them to Penny or not.

Keep some in a chest, and make sure to give Penny Melons twice a week to quickly max out your hearts with her.

If you’re past Summer or only want to use your Melons for profit, another option is to visit the Calico Desert and try to catch Sandfish.

Sandfish are relatively common in the Desert, and with sufficient Fishing skill levels, you should be able to catch plenty of them.

That wraps up everything you need to know about the gifts that Penny likes in Stardew Valley!
