Season 1 of Diablo 4: Obtaining Malignant Invokers
In the first season of Diablo 4, players can explore a variety of new features, including the acquisition of Malignant Invokers. These valuable items are essential for farming Caged Hearts during the Season of the Malignant, an event that introduces a curse known as the Malignant to Sanctuary. If you want to collect Caged Hearts and maximize your farm, it’s crucial to understand how to obtain Malignant Invokers in Diablo 4 Season 1.
How to Obtain Malignant Invokers in Diablo 4 Season 1
Malignant Invokers are consumables that enable players to prioritize the type of Caged Hearts they wish to farm. There are two primary methods for obtaining Malignant Invokers in Diablo 4 Season 1: crafting them or acquiring them as drops from enemies.
To begin acquiring Malignant Invokers, players must embark on the Season of the Malignant questline. You can either rely on enemies to drop Malignant Invokers or craft them yourself at Cormond’s Workbench. Throughout this three-month-long Season event, players have the opportunity to farm up to 32 different Caged Hearts, four of which are unique types.

- Vicious Heart: Orange, offensive power
- Brutal Heart: Blue, defensive power
- Devious Heart: Pink, utility power
- Wrathful Heart: Black, super power
Once you obtain one or two Caged Hearts from the Malignant Tunnels, you can equip them into jewelry Sockets to gain additional abilities and armor. If you specifically desire a certain type of Malignant Heart, which can be converted into a Caged Heart, use a Malignant Invoker while farming. However, how exactly do you use an Invoker?

- Enter a Malignant Tunnel that corresponds to your Malignant Invoker type
- Complete the Dungeon by eliminating all enemies and the boss
- Follow the new path within the Dungeon that leads to Malignant Outgrowths
- Interact with the Malignant Outgrowth that matches your Malignant Invoker type
- Defeat the spawned boss and acquire the Caged Heart
Sadly, you must wait until you finish the Malignant Tunnel before accessing the Outgrowths. You’ll notice a new tunnel entrance leading to the designated area. Once you interact with an Outgrowth that aligns with your Invoker, it will automatically consume the Invoker.
