No, you can’t play Starfield for $1 – Xbox has withdrawn the $1 14-day Xbox Game Pass trial again

Xbox Game Pass Trial Withdrawn Again: Bad News for Starfield Fans

Xbox fans, brace yourselves for some disappointing news. The highly anticipated game, Starfield, will not be available for just $1. Xbox has decided to withdraw the $1 14-day Xbox Game Pass trial once again.

Since its launch in 2017, the $1 / £1 / AU$1 trial month has been a popular offering for the subscription service. However, Microsoft confirmed in March 2023 that they would be discontinuing this introductory offer and exploring alternative marketing promotions for new members in the future.

Interestingly, Xbox briefly reintroduced the trial last month, only to quietly remove it again right before the release of Starfield.

In case you missed it, Xbox Game Pass recently underwent a price increase. Subscription prices for Xbox Game Pass rose from $9.99 / £7.99 / AU$10.95 to $10.99 / £8.99 / AU$11.95. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers experienced a similar increase, with their monthly costs rising from $14.99 / £10.99 / AU$15.95 to $16.99 / £12.99 / AU$18.95.

Fortunately, players in Norway, Chile, Denmark, Switzerland, and Saudi Arabia were exempt from the price hike.

As a result, if you want to play Starfield or other AAA titles on Xbox, you’ll now either need to subscribe for a full month or purchase the game outright.

In other news, the individual who leaked 45 minutes of Starfield has recently been apprehended for dealing with stolen goods. Police quickly located and arrested the culprit after the leaked segment appeared online. It appears that the leaker had been flaunting their illicit acquisition on social media, making their arrest less surprising.

The sci-fi game has recently achieved gold status, and if you’ve pre-ordered Starfield or plan to download it from the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, you can now preload the game on Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam users will have to wait until August 30).

However, be prepared to clear some space on your device before preloading, as Starfield will require a significant amount of storage. Standard Edition players on Xbox Series X|S will need 100.19GB, while Premium Edition players will require 117.07GB. PC and Steam users have it even worse, as the game will occupy a staggering 139.84GB of space.
