Surprise! Heart Machine’s ‘Solar Ash’ Slides Onto Switch Next Week

Annapurna Interactive is set to release Solar Ash, the visually stunning 3D platformer developed by Heart Machine, on the Nintendo Switch on September 14th.

Solar Ash, the follow-up to Hyper Light Drifter, was initially launched on PS4, PS5, and PC in 2021. While the previous installment featured beautiful 2D pixel art, Solar Ash takes players on a journey through breathtaking 3D landscapes. The game is set in the same universe as the indie hack-and-slash game developed by Heart Machine, but it places a greater emphasis on movement rather than action.

The rumors about a Switch port have finally been confirmed, as a rating for Solar Ash was discovered on PEGI’s website earlier this year in March.

Although Solar Ash did not receive as much critical acclaim as its predecessor, it was still highly praised for its stunning visuals, immersive atmosphere, and fluid traversal. Push Square, our sister site, gave the game a score of 7/10, stating that “the traversal mechanics keep you engaged throughout and lead to a satisfying conclusion.”

Heart Machine is currently working on another game set in the Hyper Light Drifter universe called Hyper Light Breaker. This upcoming 3D co-operative roguelite will be available on Steam Early Access in 2024, with details about other platforms yet to be confirmed.
