Baldur’s Gate 3 mod adds higher difficulty than Tactician

A New Mod for Baldur’s Gate 3 Introduces a Brutal Difficulty Mode

A newly developed mod for Baldur’s Gate 3 raises the stakes by introducing a difficulty level tougher than Tactician, offering players an even greater challenge.

Baldur’s Gate 3 currently features three main difficulty modes, catering to different playstyles. Explorer mode is designed for gamers who prefer to focus on the game’s story without being overwhelmed by difficult combat encounters. On the other hand, Balanced mode aims to strike a balance between gameplay and narrative, providing a normal difficulty experience.

Tactician difficulty, however, pushes players to their limits by offering more challenging combat scenarios, increased enemy health, and a generally less fair gameplay experience compared to other difficulty settings.

Surprisingly, some players have found Tactician mode too easy for their tastes. One user on Nexus Mods has created a mod called Death March Alpha, inspired by the hardest difficulty of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This mod makes combat encounters even more grueling by introducing new enemies, enhancing their abilities, and adding completely fresh enemy types to test your skills.

Modder Lightboom explains, “All changes are seamlessly integrated by going over each fight by hand.”

In addition to the new difficulty mode, Death March Alpha also introduces a variety of new enemy types. For example, the Chemists have joined the ranks of the Goblins and use their infusions to strengthen their allies while employing bombs to eliminate enemies.

Other new enemies include Drow Assassins who oversee particular Absolute plots, and Githyanki Warmages who assist Githyanki search parties with their mighty powers. The mod also enhances existing enemy skillsets, introduces new skills, provides new rewards, and heightens the strategic importance of gameplay.

It’s worth noting that even after installing the mod, players can still switch back to a more suitable difficulty setting, as Baldur’s Gate 3 allows for mid-game settings adjustments. If you’re seeking an arduous gaming experience, be sure to give this mod a try.
