What’s in Store for the Direct?

While there’s still much speculation surrounding the content of this Direct, there are a few possibilities. One major release fans can anticipate is Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which recently received its own dedicated Direct. In addition, Detective Pikachu Returns, a highly-anticipated Switch exclusive, is set to release next month. It’s likely that we’ll get more details about this title during the Direct.

Although there have been limited exclusives for the Switch in the latter part of 2023, Nintendo Directs in September typically provide a glimpse into the following year. Therefore, fans are hopeful to receive more information about Nintendo’s plans for 2024. With the winter months extending into next year, it’s reasonable to expect insights into the early part of 2024.

Rumors have also been swirling about a Switch successor, with reports indicating that Nintendo showcased it to developers at Gamescom last month. This new console is said to be portable like the Switch and is rumored for release in the second half of 2024.
