A Cozy, Hobbit-Centric Lord Of The Rings Game Is On The Way

A brand new Lord of the Rings game with a cozy theme is in development by Wētā Workshop and Private Division. While not much information is available at the moment, the game will revolve around the beloved hobbits, known for their hairy feet, love of second breakfast, and living in cozy holes.

The game, titled “Tales Of The Shire,” was unveiled through a teaser trailer featuring artwork and a logo treatment. The teaser showcases a woman watercoloring a picture of a hobbit on a desk filled with tools, artwork, and plants. She stops painting and walks off-screen, allowing a breeze, light, and the sounds of children’s laughter and birds singing to enter. The wind turns the pages of a book, revealing more artwork of hobbits and hobbit holes, before closing to reveal the game’s logo.

The exact nature of the game is speculative, but it’s easy to envision a farming simulation in the style of Story of Seasons or Stardew Valley. While the teaser artwork features hobbits, it’s challenging to identify any specific characters from the Lord of the Rings series. However, the teaser does mention specific locations in the Shire, such as The Green Dragon and Bywater.

Tales Of The Shire is scheduled for release in 2024 on console and PC. More details will be disclosed next year. To receive updates about the game, you can now follow “Tales Of The Shire” on Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
