Gran Turismo Sport Servers Close Next Year

The Gran Turismo Sport Server Closure

Polyphony Digital has recently announced that the servers for Gran Turismo Sport will be shutting down in the near future. This decision was made in order to focus on enhancing the online services for the upcoming release of Gran Turismo 7.

The Gran Turismo Sport Server Closure Date

On January 31, 2024, at 06:00 UTC, the online servers for Gran Turismo Sport will be permanently closed. After this date and time, players will no longer have access to various online features, such as the Community, Open Lobby, Sport Mode, and the ability to create custom liveries for cars, helmets, and racing suits. Here is a comprehensive list of features that will no longer be available:

  • Online Services: The Community, Open Lobby, Quick Match, and Seasonal Events features will no longer be accessible.
  • Mileage Store Closure: It will be impossible to purchase items from the Mileage Store.
  • Trophies: Certain Trophies requiring an online connection will no longer be attainable.
  • Garage Car Liveries: Custom liveries will be unavailable once the online service ends. All vehicles with applied liveries will revert to their original colors.

However, it’s important to note that all of the game’s offline features will still be playable after the server closure. This includes the career mode, existing cars, personalized Car Settings in the Garage, and world circuits.

Changes to Gran Turismo Sport DLC

For the time being, players can continue to purchase downloadable content (DLC) add-ons for Gran Turismo Sport. However, as of December 1, 2023, all Gran Turismo Sport DLC add-ons will be removed from the PlayStation Store. This includes Vehicles, the Scapes Content Pack, and the Lewis Hamilton Time Trial Challenge. Any add-ons that are purchased before December 1 will remain playable, so act quickly if you wish to add them to your collection.

A Transition to Gran Turismo 7

Gran Turismo Sport was initially launched in 2017, but support began to dwindle in 2020 as the development team shifted their focus towards Gran Turismo 7. Fortunately, for those who have yet to make the leap to the newer game, certain aspects of your progress will be automatically transferred over. This includes your Driver Rating (DR), Sportsmanship Rating (SR), car liveries, helmet designs, suit designs, and decals.
