Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will have new perks and ‘remix’ some fan favourites

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Gets a Loadout Overhaul

The loadout select and perks system in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is about to receive a major upgrade. With a mix of classic favorites and exciting new additions, players can expect an enhanced gaming experience.

To mark the upcoming launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and the start of beta access, the Call of Duty Next Showcase livestream featured 250 players battling it out on new maps while revealing more details about the highly-anticipated FPS game.

New Loadout Screen

During the live stream, players were introduced to the revamped loadout screen for the first time. Notably, perks have now been categorized into three sections: boots, gloves, and gear. However, Kim Weigend, development director for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, assures fans that “you’ll see some fan favorites come back”. In addition to remixing existing perks, the game introduces some fresh ones to keep things exciting.

One significant change is that perks are now represented by physical items. Instead of a long and sometimes bewildering list, players can now quickly and easily make their selection using images. For example, movement boosts will be associated with boots, while enhanced weapon handling will be linked to gloves. Stephanie Snowden, studio communications director, emphasizes that this approach is both different and logical.

Custom Builds and Individual Playstyles

These updates to the loadout screen are aimed at enhancing players’ ability to create custom builds that align with their individual playstyles. According to Adam Iscove, senior development director, there are numerous perks related to movement, such as tact pads, lightweight boots, and canvas sneakers that eliminate sound while on the move. The hope is to witness some impressive custom builds that cater to players’ unique preferences.

With the launch of Modern Warfare 3 drawing near, it will be fascinating to see what new and returning players discover. Hopefully, we’ll witness some mind-blowing custom builds that, fingers crossed, won’t put average players at a disadvantage.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is set to release on November 10 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox One. Players who have pre-ordered the game will have access to the open beta, with start dates depending on the platform.
