Digital Entertainment Company Modern Times Group Acquires Snowprint Studios, Makers of Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus

Swedish studio Snowprint Studios, the creators of the award-winning mobile game Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus, has been acquired by digital entertainment company Modern Times Group (MTG). With this acquisition, MTG now holds a 70% majority stake in Snowprint and will incorporate the studio into MTG’s Gaming Village concept. Snowprint’s co-founders, Patrik Lindegrén and Alexander Ekvall, who have extensive experience in the mobile gaming industry, previously worked with Candy Crush developer King. The studio will continue to be led by Lindegrén and Ekvall, along with studio general manager and game director Wilhelm Österberg.

Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus is a strategy game based on the popular IP created in 1983 by British tabletop game designers Bryan Ansell, Richard Halliwell, and Rick Priestley. The IP has expanded to include books, games, audio dramas, and more. Tacticus, a sci-fi spin-off of the original system, has gained global prominence and is now Snowprint’s most notable title.

MTG plans to focus on growing Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus, leveraging its success and potential for cross-promotion with other mid-core titles in its portfolio.
