Insomniac Games’ highly anticipated follow-up to their acclaimed Spider-Man title is set to launch on October 20, 2023. The release date was announced during Summer Game Fest 2023.

Is there A Spider-Man 2 Xbox Series X Release Date?

Unlike its predecessor, Spider-Man 2 will be exclusive to Sony’s current-gen hardware, the PlayStation 5, at launch. Insomniac Games has focused exclusively on the PS5 and there are no plans for an Xbox Series X release date. However, there is a possibility that the game will eventually make its way to PC, following the pattern of other Sony exclusives that have been released on platforms like Epic or Steam.

Spider-Man 2 New Gameplay Features to Expect

During the PlayStation Showcase in May 2023, Insomniac Games revealed some exciting gameplay details for Spider-Man 2. Players will have the ability to freely switch between two characters, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, during open-world gameplay with just the touch of a button. Each character has their own unique abilities and quirks, such as Miles being faster than Peter. This feature allows players to choose the best character for each scenario they encounter.

In addition, players can expect a wide variety of new Spidey suits to choose from for both Peter and Miles. Each suit will have its own unique abilities for traversal and combat, adding a new layer of depth to the game. There will also be symbiote variant versions of each suit, which will allow the heroes to utilize Venom’s symbiote powers to their advantage.

Miles and Peter will also have wing suits for traversal, which will enable them to travel faster than in previous titles. The suits can be used to ride through air currents and seamlessly chain with web-swinging, adding a new level of speed and agility to the game.

Spider-Man 2 Open World Map: It’s Bigger and Better

The game will once again be set in New York, specifically Manhattan Island, but with slight expansions. The map will be about two times larger than previous games, thanks to the addition of Brooklyn and Queens. Players can expect an even more expansive open world to explore and swing through as Spider-Man.

The game’s story trailer showcases the return of Kraven, who leaves the jungle to hunt targets in New York. The trailer also reveals that Peter Parker has obtained a new symbiote suit and is using it in his crime-fighting duties. Meanwhile, Miles Morales is back in action and is aware of the suit’s potential dangers. The trailer hints at a mysterious connection between Peter, Harry Osbourne’s suspended symbiote, and the eventual arrival of Venom. The full story will be revealed when the game releases.
