Wizard With a Gun Launches Early on Steam to Avoid Clash with Diablo IV
Wizard With a Gun, the highly anticipated game about a wizard armed with a gun, has surprised fans by launching a day earlier than expected on Steam. Publisher Devolver Digital made the strategic move to avoid competition with the release of Diablo IV on the same platform.
Devolver initially planned to release Wizard With a Gun on October 17. However, the company decided to release it today, October 16, instead. In a humorous press release, Devolver expressed their surprise and ignorance of “Something called Diablo IV, which we’ve never heard of, but apparently a lot of people love–decided it was going to release on Steam on the same day.”
Wizard With a Gun is now available on Steam, while the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are still scheduled for release on October 17. For those who are unfamiliar, Wizard With a Gun is a sandbox survival game that puts players in the role of a wizard armed with a variety of magical weapons in a post-apocalyptic world. This game drew its inspiration from the iconic meme of Gandalf wielding an AK-47. Wizard with a Gun was developed by Galvanic Games. October 17 promises to be an action-packed day for gamers. In addition to the release of Diablo IV on Steam, the game’s Season of Blood update will also launch on the same day. Furthermore, Call of Duty’s Halloween event, The Haunting, and Halo Infinite’s Season 5: Reckoning are both set to kick off on October 17. |
