Hey Xbox Insiders! We have an exciting new update coming to the Beta ring of the Xbox Preview program. It’s important to note that while some of the changes in this update may not be immediately noticeable, they are crucial for ensuring a high-quality and stable experience on Xbox consoles.

We continue to provide release notes for these preview builds, even when the user interface changes are minimal, so that you are aware of the updates coming to your device. Take a look at the details below!

  • Available: 2 p.m. PT – October 18, 2023
  • Mandatory: 3 a.m. PT – October 19, 2023

New Features and Experiences

We have some exciting news for Beta users participating in the Xbox Update Preview program. You can expect new features and experiences coming your way!

Controllers

In this update, we are releasing a new version of the Xbox Wireless Controller firmware that includes various fixes. These fixes address issues with controllers failing to update their firmware as expected. Additionally, we are enabling shift-mode for keyboard button mapping for Xbox controllers through the Xbox Accessories app.

Fixes Implemented

Thanks to the hard work of our Xbox engineers, we are pleased to announce the implementation of the following fixes in this build:

System

  • We have made various updates to ensure that the console properly reflects local languages.

Note: Users participating in the Preview program may notice some “odd” text across the console. More information on this can be found here.

Known Issues

We understand that there are some issues that have been previously listed in the Xbox Insider Release Notes. Rest assured, we are actively working on finding solutions for these issues, but it may take some time for our engineers.

Audio

  • We have received reports of intermittent issues with audio across the dashboard, games, and apps. If you have experienced these issues, make sure you have the latest firmware updates for your TV and other equipment. If problems persist, please contact the manufacturer for assistance.

Note: If you continue to experience audio issues after updating the firmware, please submit feedback via “Report a Problem” with the “Reproduce with advanced diagnostics” option. Select the category “Console experiences” and “Console Audio Output Issues,” and provide as much information as possible about the issue and your setup.

Controllers

  • We are aware of reports regarding the Share button not functioning as expected. Our team is actively investigating this issue.

Keyboard Button Mapping for Xbox Controllers

  • If you change your keyboard language settings while the Xbox Accessories app is open, the change will take effect after quitting the app or rebooting your console.

Networking

  • We are investigating reports of the console not connecting to the network as expected during boot. If you experience this issue, please report it via “Report a Problem” as soon as possible.

Make sure to use “Report a Problem” to keep us informed about any issues you encounter. While we may not be able to respond to everyone, the data we gather is crucial for finding resolutions.
