Alan Wake 2 will have a “new alternative narrative” in New Game Plus

Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that Alan Wake 2 will receive a New Game Plus mode after its launch, featuring a “new alternative narrative.”

The highly anticipated sequel to the 2010 action-adventure horror game is scheduled to release tomorrow, October 27. To reassure fans, Remedy has announced that a New Game Plus mode will be added in a future update.

Although the developer hasn’t specified the exact release date for this update, it stated in a recent Twitter post that it will be available “after launch.” Remedy mentioned that the release timing is still to be determined. However, the studio did provide some insights into what players can expect from the New Game Plus mode once they complete their initial playthrough.

According to Remedy, the mode will allow players to keep all of their unlocked weapons and upgrades, eliminating the need to collect them again. Additionally, a new difficulty level called Nightmare will be introduced, which is presumably the most challenging and frightening mode.

The most noteworthy aspect of the New Game Plus mode is the inclusion of a “new alternative narrative.” This will feature new manuscript pages and fresh video content. It remains uncertain if this new narrative will bring significant changes to the main story upon launch. More information will be revealed in due course.

Alan Wake 2 will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store. Initially, the game was set to launch on October 17 but was delayed by 10 days to avoid clashes with other titles such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which released on October 20.
