Mortal Kombat 1 to Introduce Cross-Play Feature Based on Fan Poll
Mortal Kombat 1, a popular fighting game on the Nintendo Switch, has been steadily improving with various patches addressing different aspects of the game. Responding to the feedback from fans, co-creator Ed Boon recently conducted a poll on social media to determine which online features players would like to see in the game.
In the poll, cross-play emerged as the clear winner, receiving 75.5% of the votes. Ed Boon shared the results on his Twitter account:
We are working on additional online features for MK1. Can’t announce any dates/specifics at the moment. Which feature would you like to see the most/first?— Ed Boon (@noobde) November 3, 2023
Cross-play has become an essential aspect of modern fighting games as it allows players from different platforms to compete against each other. This feature not only breaks down barriers but also extends the lifespan of games. NetherRealm, the developer of Mortal Kombat 1, had previously mentioned their plans to implement cross-play post-launch, without specifying a release date.
Launch is just around the corner and we can’t wait for everyone to sink their teeth into #MK1. Regarding Kross-Play, it will not be available at launch, but know we are hard at work at implementing the feature into the game and it will be koming post launch. pic.twitter.com/M8Kvi4QkMe— Mortal Kombat 1 (@MortalKombat) September 12, 2023
