Microsoft Flight Simulator Releases Famous Flyer 08: The Cessna T207A Turbo Stationair

Cessna’s Legendary Turbo Stationair Comes to Microsoft Flight Simulator

One of the aviation world’s most legendary light civil utility models is now available for Microsoft Flight Simulator pilots.

One of Cessna’s Brightest Stars

The single-engine T207A Turbo Stationair is one of the brightest stars in the history of Cessna, an American aviation producer. It is a turbocharged variant of the model 207, a proven utility aircraft known for its exceptional short field performance and bush flying capabilities. The T207A Turbo Stationair, which seats up to eight including pilot(s), earned the status of legend due to its turbo-charged power and ability to deftly handle even the toughest unimproved airstrips.

Born Out of a Long Lineage of Success

The T207A traces its lineage to the Cessna 210, a single-engine, six-seat model introduced in 1957, featured retractable landing gear. Using the 210 as a design base, Cessna developed their 206 line, introducing the first model in the early 1960s. The 206 family of aircraft would go on to be one of the most successful breeds of single-engine, civil light utility aircraft to ever fly.

Cessna refined the exceptional design of the 206 by creating the 207. The 207 debuted in 1969 and is a stretched variant of the 206 with an increased fuselage length of 45 inches. Cessna manufactured the 207 from 1969 to 1984, building a total of 626 airframes.

The 207 is renowned as an exceptional short field and bush transport aircraft. It is powerful, rugged, and has a utilitarian and capacious design. In addition to wide use as an air taxi, the 207 has also been used as been used as a skydiving platform and for aerial photography and mapping.

A Sport-Utility Vehicle of the Sky

The 207 was produced in several variants, including the T207A, a turbocharged iteration that was initially certified in July of 1976, and was subsequently certified for eight seats in September of 1979. The seven-seat version was named the Turbo Skywagon and the eight-seater the Turbo Stationair. Aviators familiar with the T207A Stationair often call it a “sport-utility vehicle of the sky” due to its roomy interior, power, ruggedness, and versatility.
