The Day Before servers will shut down next month – Steam to ‘proactively refund all remaining players’

Developer Fntastic has officially announced the shutdown of The Day Before servers on January 22, 2024, as the company has stopped its operations.

In a statement on The Day Before Twitter / X account on December 22, the supporters of the game were appreciated, but also informed that the project had to be closed down due to the lack of a development team.

Fntastic mentioned that the game’s publisher, Mytona, and Steam are working to provide refunds to all game purchasers, and Steam will take care of refunds for remaining players.

The Day Before was released in early access on Steam on December 7, but Fntastic announced its closure just four days later, citing financial difficulties as the primary reason.

Many players expressed their frustration and disappointment on social media following the announcement. In response to one of these, the official Fntastic Twitter / X account wrote: “This was our first big experience. S**t happens.”

The game had experienced numerous delays prior to its early access release and was even temporarily delisted from Steam earlier in the year.

Prior to the early-access launch, Fntastic released a statement addressing accusations of scamming and asset flipping, stating that the team had worked tirelessly for five years to make their dream game a reality.
